Southern Party of South Carolina

Southern Party of South Carolina Press Release
June 23, 2004

On February 17, 2004, three members of the Southern Party of South Carolina submitted to the SouthCarolina Elections Committee a petition designed for ballot access. State law requires 10,000 validvoter signatures for this, and members turned in some 11,000, pre-validated. Volunteers did all the work—no professional petition gathering companies helped, as in the California initiatives. Members gathered signatures at gun-shows and town festivals across the state. Donations of monetary funds came from all over the country, and sympathetic notes from all over the world. At present the Southern Party of South Carolina has, according to state authorities, 9,271 signatures. The counties that used thepercentage method of verification must now according to law check each signature instead of a randomsample. So presently the party still has a substantial chance of achieving ballot access after thisrecount.
If this first attempt fails, the Southern Party of South Carolina will immediately begin raising funds to contract a petition gathering company for a new attempt at ballot access. This isthe initial step to fulfill its goal of self-determination for the citizens of South Carolina. The SPofSChas opened negotiations with other related organizations to coordinate a plan to run candidates in two years who will openly advocate a formal plebiscite for South Carolinian sovereignty. In the immediate, the party will demand that the state government in Columbia fulfill its duty in defending the citizensof South Carolina from an increasingly tyrannical federal government—one which sanctions schools, even colleges, to deprive students’ of their Constitutional rights of free-speech and equal treatmentthrough Affirmative Action programs; one which makes continuous war on other countries withoutCongress’s formal declaration, while allowing our borders at this very moment to overrun with invaders; a government that confiscates private property and taxes producing citizens over half their incomethrough augmented taxes and inflation. The two establishment parties have become one monotonous voiceof dereliction on these and other matters and present no solution but perpetuate the corruption throughthe illusion of choice.
Outside South Carolina, other state and city governments recognize homosexualmarriages, force public schools to educate in Spanish as well as English, and make ominous overtures of gun-confiscation. Many international corporations destroy and ridicule our communities, while contributinglittle or no tax revenue and discriminate against local businesses while raping our land through unchecked urban sprawl. The monopoly media degrades our Western Civilization and even the very bloodthat has produced it. Authorities have not checked these forces nor condemned them but have abetted in the assault. Only the immediate cessation of the persecution of Southerners, and their allies everywherewho love liberty and the rule of law can stop the vanguard of resistance that now must perforce grow.

Most Sincerely,
Gray Banks
Southern Party of South Carolina Chairman
